The Shifted Librarian - Second Life at ALA's Mid-Winter meeting
The Shifted Librarian blog has a number of posts relating to Second Life. The most recent is titled ALA's Second Life. The blog's author Jenny Levine posts that she has been asked to do an SL demonstration at ALA's Mid-Winter meeting.
I am a graduate student in Library and Information Science at Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan. I've worked as a computer trainer since 1990, however, my education is not technical. I have a BA in English, and an associates degree in Fine Arts. I enjoy technology, but do what I do because I love being around learning. I teach standard applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in corporate and government organizations.
A few years ago I turned 50 and decided it was the perfect time to revinvent myself. I really don't want to teach Excel for another 20 years. But I love to teach, and more and more libraries are providing the teaching and training people need. I am primarily interested in academic libraries and information literacy, and I am especially interested in the ways Second Life can be used for education, business, or just to connect.
